What Is It?

Commission splits allow brands to pay out commissions for specific products, brands, or collections within a product catalog, rather than entire orders. This granularity enables better control over commission payouts, aligning them with business objectives.

Why Is It Important?

  1. Flexibility: Enables brands to tailor commissions to specific products or campaigns.

  2. Optimized ROI: Ensures commission budgets are focused on high-priority or high-margin products.

  3. Targeted Campaigns: Supports strategic promotions by boosting commissions for selected collections or brands.

For example, a brand may want to incentivize sales of a new product line by offering higher commissions for that line only, while keeping standard rates for the rest of the catalog.

How to Set It Up

  1. Define Your Rules:

    • Identify the products, brands, or collections to include or exclude.

    • Specify commission rates for each tier and rule.

  2. Set Conditions:

    • Rules are applied independently of each other. Where products meet criteria for more than one rule, the highest commission percentage will be applied.

    • Combine conditions to create targeted commission splits.

  3. Apply Boosts:

    • Boost commission rates for specific campaigns or promotional periods.

    • If you have multiple segments of ambassadors with different commission tiers, ensure commission boosts to specific products or collections are applied across all applicable ambassador commission tiers.

Example Scenarios

Let's run through a few common commission boost scenarios to demonstrate how to set each of them up!

Scenario 1: Assign Commission to only Brand-Name Products (Exclude Third Party Products from Commission)

Rule:

  • Condition: Include

  • Criteria: Brand

  • Value: Brand Name of Brand which you would like Creators to earn commission on

  • Commission Rate: 15% (For example)

No further rules are required! Creators will earn 0% commission for all products that are not from 'Brand Name' (ie. third-party products), and sales on 'Brand Name' products will earn 15% commission.

Scenario 2: Brand Offers Base Commission on All Products, but boosts commission on a Specific Collection And/Or Product

Rule 1:

  • Commission Rate: 15%

Set the first rule to a general 15% commission on all products.

Rule 2:

  • Condition: Include

  • Criteria: Collection/Product

  • Value: Gift Sets (Example Collection Name)

  • Commission Rate: 20%

Since the commission tiers will always apply the rule with the highest commission, using this set-up will allow creators to earn 15% commission on all products, except for products within the gift sets collection, which will earn the higher 20% commission rate.

Scenario 3: Brand wants to exclude specific products/collections from being eligible for commission

Rule 1:

  • Condition: Exclude

  • Criteria: Products and/or Collections

  • Value: Example Product: e-Gift Card

  • Commission Rate: 15%

Using this set up, a 15% commission rate will apply to sales on all products excluding e-Gift Cards. Since there is no additional rules in place for e-Gift Cards to earn commission, the commission on e-Gift cards will be 0%. If you are setting up additional rules using this configuration, be sure to exclude e-Gift Cards from all Rules.

Please note: We will pay commission on order line item amounts. We will not pay commissions on Shipping.
